Smith and DeLuca straighten out News Journal
In an op-ed titled "Paper supported deregulation in '99," House Majority Leader Wayne Smith and Senate Majority Whip Anthony DeLuca write the following:
In a recent editorial, The News Journal roundly criticized the electric deregulation law, claiming that the bill was rushed and mocking the General Assembly for touting the benefits of the 1999 law.
Conveniently, The News Journal has forgotten its own positions. In a 1999 editorial entitled "Electric Deregulation Will Benefit Utilities and Their Delaware Customers," The News Journal stated: "Delaware has taken a long and thoughtful approach to deregulating the electric utilities. As a result H.B. 10 ... is a good bill." The 1999 editorial had it right.
As they say, read the whole thing.
